(530) Fuchsin as a Photographic Material.

When a material, by preference linen, or paper made from linen rag, is colored with fuchsia, dried in the dark, and then placed under a negative in the usual way, a greyish picture will result, by the fading of the fuchsia in the light; the developer is sulphate of copper, in the solution of which the picture has to be soaked for 48 hours, when the picture will not only be developed with violet color, but also fixed, as all that is necessary then will he to bleach it for two days on the grass, when the rest of the fuchsin not acted on before, will be entirely faded away, and the picture, fixed with the sulphate of copper, be pure violet on a white ground.
