The Berlin Aniline Co. have taken out a patent for new blue colours of the direct cotton dyeing class, which will dye unmordanted cotton simply by boiling in a bath containing Glauber's salts. These blue colours will dye shades varying from violet blue to a green blue, greener than either azoblue or benzoazurine, which latter is a shade that is wanted. The dyes are produced by combining a new napthol disulphonic acid, patented by the oompany, with Benzidine Stilbene and similar bodies, including diphenitine. This is the first time we have seen this compound mentioned as being used in the production of coal tar colours.
