According to Les Annales Techniques, a brilliant and unalterable paint can be prepared from mica in the following way: The mineral is lightly ignited and then boiled with hydrochloric acid to purify it, after which it is dried and pulverized. The powder, mixed with collodion, can be applied with a brush.
