Some improved paits have been patented, the colors of which vary from a dark slate-color to a fine white, which are claimed proof against any ordinary fire, and to possess great durability when exposed to the action of the weather. The ingredients of the paint are principally coal-tar, asphaltum, silicate of soda, dead oils from gas-works, with various other materials for coloring and other purposes. The paint is applied in the ordinary way with a brush. The paint is claimed to be entirely inodorous, the combination of the tar with the other ingredients completely deodorizing the tar.
