Tanning with Chestnut Wood has been introduced to the notice of "La Halle aux Cuirs" of Paris, by J. Algetiere, jr., a tanner at Lyons. He claims that the tannin obtained from this source instead of the barh, makes leather of peculiar fineness, uniformity and excellence of color, and superior quality in all respects as compared with the best oak tanned.
