- How must I prepare woolen yarn so that I may print thereon, and have the colors penetrate decidedly, using aniline colors, with flour or starch as a base?
- J. B. J., Yonkers, N. Y.
Answer. The preparation for woolen printing is generally stannate of soda; but it depends much on the color that is wanted. Some need no treatment at all, as the color is mixed with the mordant, which is starch and lactarine mixed. If this correspondent will give us further particulars, we may be able to answer him more accurately. The most important treatment for woolen yarns, which is very much neglected, is a thorough washing.
