T. Cobley, of Meerholz, Germany, has taken out a patent for manufacturing fluo-silicate of tin as a new pigment. He makes it by dissolving the oxide of tin in fluo-silicic acid, or by decomposing a solution of the comon salt of tin, by fluo-silicic acid. The fluo-silicate thus obtained is heated with the sulphide of ammonium or sulphureted hydogen, and forms the sulphide which is used as a pigment, and also as a glaze for porcelain.
