Dissolve, with the assistance of heat, 20 parts of brown shellac in a solution of 30 parts of borax in 300 to 400 parts of water, and filter the solution while hot. Then add to the filtrate a solution of 10 parts of aniline black soluble in water, three-tenths part of tannin, one-tenth part of picrid acid, 15 parts spiit of sal ammoniac and one-quarter ounce of water.
