Photographing in Natural Colors.

The Manufacturer and Builder 10, 1878

We see the report of this process, above described, announced by some of our contemporaries as an attempt at making photographs in natural colors, but it is no such thing; it is simply an application of photography to the printing of chromos. Photographing in natural colors is quite another problem, and consists in the finding of a compound which will produce chemically the same colour as the object possesses, so that red, green or blue in the picture. Many attempts have been made in this direction, but in vain, and as far as we can judge from our present knowledge in this respect, the solution of this problem is hopeless.
