Pulverized charcoal and litharge (oxide of lead), in equal quantities, mixed with raw linseed oil, makes a cheap and very durable dark brown paint for the rough boards of out houses. It is also a good paint for exposed iron work. The addition of yellow ocher makes it a dark green color.
