M. Landrin has reported experiments to the French Academy, tending to show that pure coralline does not exert any poidonous action on the human skin. M. Tardieu rejoins, that the coralline-dyed stockings which he examined, and which did produce such effects, did not contain arsenic, lead, mercury, or other mineral poisons, but he cannot say whether or not the stockings were colored with coralline only. So the question stands in a position of uncertainty as to the real cause of the mischief imputed to this pretty dye.
