(1683) Blue Bronze.

Manufacturer and Builder ?, 1876

Is there no way to make a blue bronze in a simpler manner than the laborious prescription of Bechman, published on page 299 of your volume for 1875?
—S. T. L. Haddam Conn.

—For real bronze, that is, a metallic powder of a blue color, we do not know of another method; but you may prepare something perfectly equivalent by mixing pulverized mica with transparent blue pigment, such as Prussian blue, diluted with much oil or varnish; do not put white in, as this is opaque and deteriorates the metallic luster of the mica, but put the mixture of transparent varnish, mica, and a small quantity of Prussian blue on a white ground, well prepared, clean, and dry.
