(2046) Manganese Bronze.

The Manufacturer and Builder 1, 1878

— Gintl investigated this bronze and found it to be malleable, tough, and about the color of brass, while analysis proved it to contain 76.710 parts of copper, 16.147 of manganese, 549 of zinc, 320 of iron, and 762 of tin and silicon. He came to the conclusion that it was made by alloying 15 parts of copper, 4 of manganese, and 1 of zinc, while the small amount of iron, tin, and silicon found by analysis were simply due to the impurities of the other metals, especially the zinc, which most always contains traces of iron and silicon.
