[782] Cheap Inks.

Manufacturer and builder 8, 1873

It is, of course, impossible to say with certainty if a thing is good without inspecting it; but the doubs of our correspondent, being apparently founded on their cheapness, may be unjust. The packages of ink-powders may be so small as to contain only one or two cents worth of anilin or its equivalent, and as of such substances a very small amount goes a great way in making a colored solution adapted for writing, the inks may be good enough. The package for the lead-tree, is, of course, nothing but lead-sugar, to be dissolved in water, and a piece of zinc suspended in the same. This is fully described and illustrated in our February number for 1871, page 29.
