FUSTICK, FUSTOCK is a yellow wood us'd in dying. The colour it yields is a fine golden yellow; but there ought to be some other ingredients mixt with it to make it lasting.
The tree that produces it grows in all the Antilles islands, particularly in Tabago, where it grows to a very great height.
It is us’d by dyers, chiefly in dying blacks; but some say it not be us’d at all.
There is also another kind of Fustick or fustel growing in Italy, Provence, &c. us'd in dying a coffee-colour.
