The Manufacturer and Builder 8, 1877

Alcohol is the best. Mix it with a strong solution of strontium nitrate, and it will burn with a red flame; with boracic acid or copper chlorid, and it will be green or blue; wills iron nitrate or lime nitrate, and it will produce other shades of red; with sodium nitrate, or common salt, it will give yellow, etc.
