Glass bombs resembling electriclamp bulbs, filled with brightly colored paint, are a new British weapon against holdup men. Night watchmen and payroll messengers, carrying supplies of the bombs, are prepared to hurl them at fleeing suspects or escaping bandit cars. The resulting smear of yellow or red ocher paint makes it easy for police to trail the fugitives, and the firing of guns that might endanger passersby in crowded streets and thoroughfares is avoided.
